SEC Football 2009

I am anxious to see the 2009 ADay Game (Alabama) A-Day that is. Not the one across the state. I can't wait to see Greg McElroy and Star Jackson in action. Certainly, a football team is more than the quarterback. However, for Alabama this fall it will be about the quarterback. Last year, it was about what the quarterback did not do. That is throw interceptions. At least, until the last two games John Parker Wilson did not throw interceptions. The word is that Greg looks great but I can't wait until April 18 to see for myself. My personal opinion is that the first game of the season against Virginia Tech will be the toughest game and what a game to break in a new quarterback. I think if the Tide gets by Tech on September 5 they will be undefeated and headed back to Atlanta probably against the Gators. By the way, my darkhorse picks for SEC West and East this year are Tennessee in the East and Arkansas in the West. Arkansas showed drastic improvement and has a great deal coming back and Kiffin is a crazy young man but I think the newness will get Tennessee a few more wins. Darkhorse doesn't mean I think they will win the divisions but they will be better than 2008. Both teams went 5-7 in 2008. With Georgia losing Stafford and Moreno Tennessee in my opinion would be the only team that could challenge Gators and in the West, Alabama seems to be the class of the division with Arkansas, LSU, and Ole Miss with very competitive teams all that could challenge Bama for the west. Auburn and Miss. State may somehow sneak out 6-6 records but probably 2-6 in league play at best. Roll Tide!!! Big Al
